RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a Structural Engineer – Remote (preferred in Illinois or EST time zone). This is a full-time direct-hire Remote assignment with our client. This position offers a competitive package including benefits, vacation and holidays.
Overview of YOUR role as a Structural Engineer
Our client is seeking a Licensed Structural Engineer to join their nuclear services team and contribute to the design, analysis, and construction of nuclear facilities. This is an opportunity to play a critical role in the engineering and design processes for commercial nuclear power generation. The position can be fully remote (depending on location) or hybrid working a minimum of 3 days in the office, typically Tuesday through Thursday, with the ability to work from home the remaining workdays. Candidates must be able to travel to plant sites when needed (approximately 6-8 days/month with ability to support longer durations).
As a Structural Engineer YOU will:
· Oversee proposal development and guide other engineers in the development of deliverables for nuclear projects within the Civil/Structural discipline
· Report to an assigned Project Engineer and Project Manager on multi-discipline proposals and projects and act as a Project Engineer for Civil/Structural projects when required
· Act as a technical point of contact for the customer, leading discipline specific engineering teams
· Provide area expertise in development of industry standard design and calculations associated with design and construction of commercial nuclear modifications
· Work with other engineers and designers to prepare design change packages for modifications at operating nuclear plants and other associated nuclear facilities
· Prepare engineering change packages (EC’s)
· Prepare scoping documents and proposals to determine extent of modifications required
· Prepare cost estimates for engineering/design activities for Civil/Structural
· Conduct field walkdowns to determine existing configuration of plant structures, systems, and components
· Perform a broad range of Civil/Structural design activities to support development of design change documentation
YOU are the ideal Structural Engineer candidate if you have:
· Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university (required) – structural engineering emphasis (highly preferred)
· Structural Engineer (SE) License (required)
· Minimum of 8 years’ experience in design and 4 years’ experience in design of modifications in nuclear (DOE or commercial) plants
· Must have design engineering experience associated with commercial nuclear sites (required)
· Experience with Industry Standard Design Procedure IP-ENG-001 (required)
· Strong knowledge of Civil/Structural design codes (AISC, ASTM, ACI)
· Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
· Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and standard practices
· Adaptability with proficiency in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues within a nuclear power plant environment
· Effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing)
· Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with customers and internal team members under a matrixed organization
· Ability to obtain unescorted access at an operating or construction nuclear plant (required)
· Strong background in commercial nuclear design and developing engineering competencies
· Team player who works well as a member of a group
· Detail-oriented and dedicated to task completion
· Ability to travel to plant sites approximately 6-8 days/month
It’s a BONUS if you have:
· Master of Science or other advanced degree in engineering
· Experience working with multiple operating nuclear clients and vendors
· On-site and past unescorted access at nuclear facilities
· Additional software skills including Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Vault, Risa, ANSYS
· Professional Engineering (PE) license
